Explanation of Input Controls
Input controls allow dynamic interrogation of data from within Business Objects. This functionality means data can be sliced and diced without being exported to Excel, and ensures that one source of information can be used for all such data requirements. By selecting a value on an Input control, the report is automatically filtered by that value.
Input controls can apply across the full report (called “Document Input Controls”), or across just one tab only (called “Report Input Controls”).
Input controls can be applied singularly or in combination with each other.
How to find Input Control functionality
Input control functionality can be switched on by opening the second icon on the menu ribbon which runs along the left hand side of the Business Objects window when a report is open:
When using input controls, always double check that the OK buttons have all been updated and the data is a true reflection of what you would expect - ie. Reality check the data. It is very easy to overlook when Input Controls have or have not been applied.
